How To Do Automatic Writing

Automatic writing is connecting to spirit, stepping aside and allowing them to work through you through writing. It is a good idea to meditate before you start so that it is easier to get into the trance state that is needed to connect to the spirit world. The trance state for automatic writing is very light, so don’t go into a deep meditation otherwise you won’t get much. A quick way to get into a trance state is called 4x4 breathing. You breathe in for 4 counts, hold for 4, breathe out for 4 and hold for 4. You should only need to do this one or two times.

Get a piece of paper and a pen a write down a general question. Things like what is love, what is my life purpose, what are spirit guides etc. are good ones to start with. Then underneath write your answer without channeling. Write whatever you think the answer may be. Don’t try too hard, just a few sentences are fine. Next take some deep breaths and go into that meditative or trance state and ask the same question. Write down what comes to you. You may feel the urge to start writing or feeling like the pen is moving or you may hear it in your mind and then write it down. If you only get one word or a feeling, that is great. If you only get a few sentences that is great. Over time you will get more and more coming through. When you are done, compare the two answers. You should notice a distinct difference between your answer and the channeled answer. You may find that the wording is different from how you normally sound, you may find that the how you write is different and you should notice a higher intelligence behind the words. In the beginning you may hear it in your mind first but the more you practise the closer the time between your hearing it in your mind and when you write it down becomes.

Question: What is the purpose of life?

My answer:

I think the purpose of life is to help people and to live the human experience. I think there are lots of different purposes and you dont have to choose just one. I think doing what you love and finding out what that is and expressing that is part of the purpose of life.

Channeled answer:

Understand that the purpose of life is to become more of who you really are, to learn, to grow and to expand. Understand that those feelings of passion, joy, excitment and love are all your indicators that you are in alignment with who you really are and on the right path. When you follow those good feeling feelings, you will always end up living out your purpose no matter what. When you do what you love, what you are passionate about and use that to help others, that is when you are living your purpose. Understand that it does not have to be some big idea. It is the little things that you do on a daily basis that add up to something bigger. You do not have to know what that something bigger is. All that matters is that you are heading in a direction that you prefer no matter what is going on around you. Understand that you are the creator of your life and you can choose to experience whatever it is you prefer. You come into this world with themes that you wish to explore and understand that you will always explore them one way or another for you live in a freewill universe.

Can you see the difference? You don’t have to do this exercise every time. The idea is so that you can start to see the difference between what is you and what is spirit.

I like to do automatic writing on the computer mainly because when I do it, I write really fast and it hurts my hand if I am writing with pen and paper. Experiment both ways and see which you prefer!

-Do not over analyze what is being said and do not read over what you are writing as you are doing it. This is because your ego will get in the way and will make you start to doubt it or come out of the trance state. Remember you are a conduit for spirit. It is that in and out process, so you are not supposed to retain it. Read over it after you are finished.

-Say a prayer or set an intention before you start.

-Pick a topic you would like more information on or ask a question, but don't ask yes or no questions.

-Don't worry about spelling or punctuation.

-The faster you write, the easier it will be

-You can keep your eyes open or closed, it is up to you.

-Ask for what you want, if you want specific answers ask for it, if you want details ask for it, if you want guidance, ask for it etc. The more you ask and set your intentions the more you will get!

-It is easier than you think it is. Do not force it. Automatic writing is a much lighter trance state.

-If you find nothing is coming to you, just start writing even if it just “I have nothing to say”. The act of writing will get things going.

-Let go of those fears and doubts for they will always stop the process. Relax and allow yourself to be open to whatever being of love and light comes through. Trust the process!

-Don’t try to make it into what you think it is supposed to be.

-The more you do it, the better you will get at it. Practise, practise, practise!
