Tips For Meditation

Meditating can be hard, but it doesn't have to be! Here are some tips to help make it a bit easier! Focus On Something

Focusing seems to be the hardest thing. Those darn thoughts always show up! Some ways to help with that is to focus on something such as a candle, an object or a word. When thoughts come in, observe them and then let them go on their way. It does take a bit of practise but don't feel that having thoughts while meditating is a bad thing. Sometimes you can get some valuable insight when you just observe the thoughts, not just that you forgot to do the laundry or remembering something embarrassing you did last week.

Create Discipline

Set up a time and the days you are going to meditate. For example you could do every Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 8am. It doesn't have to be everyday, but create a schedule that works for you and stick to it! Think of it as setting an appointment with spirit or your higher self.

Create Space

Same time, same place. Try creating a nice and relaxing space to meditate in. A nice, comfy pillow, some incense, calming music and/or your favourite crystals. Make it your space and your time and treat it with respect.

Don't Force It

Don't try to make meditating happen. That is when you run into problems. Everyone meditates slightly differently and what works for you might not work for someone else. You literally have to do nothing. The more you just relax and observe and stop worrying if you are doing it right or not, the easier it will be.

Keep Track Of Your Progress

Keep a journal and write down any insights you received, how long you meditated for, how you feel etc. This is a good way to see your progress and see that hey, you are actually getting somewhere with this stuff. You can even set goals for yourself.

Meditating isn't hard or complicated, it just takes a bit of practise. It is your time with you and the universe, so have fun with it!
